MY STORY
1989
Early life
I started my journey in sport at the age of 10 when I joined "Blekitni Kielce", my home town Judo club, where I trained and competed for 3 years. Since early days I was always into sports, martial arts and active lifestyle. I trained, Boxing, Kickboxing, Krav Maga, played lots of team sports, cycling, snowboarding, swimming and regularly practised weight training and calisthenics. In 2006, shortly after moving to UK in search for better life, sort of by coincidence I joined famous Roger Gracie Academy in London. I started training and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under watchful eyes of Roger and Mauricio, and eventually after 8 years of training I recieved my Black Belt from Roger Gracie.

White Belt Life
2006 marked the start of my lifelong commitment to the Gentle Art. I started training and right way I jumped in to competing. White Belt life isn't easy. That is when you are exposed to Jiu Jitsu, fell in love in it's efficiency, release how defenceless you are and decide to embark on a long journey to never feel defenceless again :)
I competed few times in 2006, loosing some and winning too, and eventually leading to my first BJJ success.
-
Double Gold Medals at Northern Open BJJ in Sheffield, winning Absolute and Middle Heavy division at Adult White Belt.
2007 - 2011
Blue & Purple Belt Success
I competed probably 6-7 times a year at Blue and Purple belt, gaining wealth of experience doing smaller local tournaments and bigger one like British Open, Abu Dhabi World Pro Trials and IBJJF Euro. Lessons learned from losses at the tournaments are way more painful than losses in the gym. Despite trying every year I still couldn't get anything at Euros, but my hard work started to show significant results at other tournaments. Here are some of the main achievements from that period.
-
???Gold Medal at Gracie Invitational in London, Adult, Blue Belt.
-
???Gold Medal at Bristol Open, Adult, Blue.
-
???Gold Medal in Absolute, at British Open, Adult, Purple Belt.
-
2011 Gold Medal at British Open, Adult, Purple Belt.
-
2011 Gold Medal at World Pro Trials in Warsaw, Adult, Purple Belt.
2012
Double Euro Gold & Brown Belt
2012 was finally a year I managed to get to the podium at IBJJF European Championships. I was already 33 years old and decided to compete at Master 1 division. All the years of work and focus on this tournament finally paid off, leaving no doubt that dreaming big is the way to go. I secured Double Gold that year in my division and Absolute, and it all felt different. Below are some of my main achievements as a brown belt.
-
2 x Gold Medals at IBJJF European Championships in Lisbon, Middle Weight and Absolute Masters 1, Brown Belt, 2012
-
Silver Medal at IBJJF European Championships in Lisbon, Middle Weight, Master 1, Brown Belt, 2013
-
Gold Medal at British Open Championships, Adult Middle weight, Brown Belt, 2014.
2014
Black Belt Excellence
2014 was a landmark year, receiving my Black Belt from Roger Gracie and Competing in major tournaments as a Black Belt. I competed few times at IBJJF Europeans, Polish Championships, Polaris Professional, IBJJF London Open with good showing, but without Gold medals yet. There is still work top be done. Some of the main achievements at Black Belt so far.
-
Silver Medal at IBJJF London Open, Adult Middle Heavy, Black Belt.
-
Silver Medal at Polish Championships, Adult Middle Heavy, Black Belt.
2015
The Academy
In 2015 I decided to open my own academy in Reading called Mathouse, someplace where I could teach few people what I've learned, and hopefully to improve their lives in the process through Jiu Jitsu. I never thought this simple idea will grow into such an amazing academy, but as I said in 2012, "Dream big is the way to go". You never know where it's going to take you. Because I focused on running Academy and my students, my own competitive goals, took a back seat, but having many amazing students, from 6 years old all the way to black belt level, makes it definitely worth it.
The journey continues.
